Have you ever dreamed of having your own online store? Well Etsy is perfect for you. Let’s dive in, and learn how to set up your own shop, and a bit about mine as well!
My shop consists of about 45 different products to choose from. I know that might seem like a lot, and maybe a bit overwhelming, but really, it’s the easiest way to make money without doing much!

You can check out one of our products in the link. This is our weekly planner page.
Why I chose Etsy
I wanted a small business of my own, but I didn’t want to have my own website quite yet. Etsy lets you open up your own shop, and you can sell whatever you wish! I mostly sell digital items/prints, but I have a couple physical items on it as well. I usually add a new item every week, but you can add items whenever! They have a 20₵ listing fee per product, but that’s not much at all. I’ve had Etsy for about 4 months, and it’s slow at first, but after the 1st month, your shop picks up and you start getting some orders rolling in. I ran some ads the 1st month and a half, and didn’t get many orders, but I got a few. If I had to do it over again, I would not have run the ads right away, but if you want to, I recommend spending about $2.00 a day for ads. Overall, I highly recommend Etsy if you would like to open up a small shop of your own. See below for ideas for your own shop!

Ideas for your own shop
First, you need to know what you would like to sell. I sell mostly family friendly worksheets, art, and digital prints. Once you upload digital products onto your shop, you don’t have to do much. People can just buy the item, and then download it without you having to do anything. That’s what I like so much about it, they make it simple and easy. Here are some ideas for your own shop:
- Digital kids worksheets
- Digital artwork
- Jewelry
- Personalized items
- Custom t-shirts
- Handmade soap
- Handmade candles
- Cards (digital or physical)
- Party supplies and birthday invitations
You can make a shop that specializes in a single product theme, or you can be like me and have a shop with all kinds of things. Then you need a name, logo, and tagline. See ideas:
- Names- Depends on the theme of your shop. If I had a shop that sold homemade soap, I would maybe call it- Soap and Suds, or The Soap Shack. The possibilities are endless for this, so brainstorm to find the best name that fits your shop.
- Logo- Make it match your name/theme/products. I chose a logo based off the initials of my shop name, but you can do whatever you wish. See the example I made:

- To finish up your shop, you need to know what products you want to make. So for this soap shop, you could make different kinds of soap bars, hand wash, and even lotions. Offer different varieties, and sizes. You could make hotel soap sizes, regular soap sizes, and even a jumbo bar of soap. Different scents such as lavender, lemon, coconut, and even seasonal scents such as gingerbread, or pumpkin. A good shop has about 30-100+ products. I currently have about 45 products in my shop.
How do I decide on a product?
Pinterest is a good place for product ideas. I used it to make some 1:12 scale miniatures for my own shop. 1:12 scale miniatures are basically doll house items. They sell really nicely, and they’re my top physical product seller. You can also use ChatGPT for some ideas if you don’t know where to start. It can help you come up with names, a tagline, logo, products, deals, and more. I just look on Etsy at top sellers, and that helps me come up with new products.
